Solving Quadratic Equations using Quadratic Formula

   If  $a{x}^2+bx+c$ = 0, then $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{-b}\pm \sqrt{b^2-\mathrm{4ac}}}{\mathrm{2a}}$

So, if  $2x^2-13x-7$ = 0, then

     $x$ =  $\frac{-(-13)\pm \sqrt{{(\mathrm{-13})}^2-(4)(2)(-7)}}{(2)(2)}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{13}\pm \sqrt{169+56}}{4}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{13}\pm \sqrt{225}}{4}$

or, $x$ =  $\frac{\mathrm{13}\pm 15}{4}$

or,  $x$ =  $\frac{28}{4}$ or,  $x$ =  $\frac{-2}{4}$

or,  $x$ =  $7$ or,  $x$ =  $\frac{-1}{2}$
